ZIMBABWE : Panthers Set to Write Piece of History

MARONDERA Panthers are set to write their own piece of history this weekend when they become the first Harare Basketball Association League side to host a match outside the capital.

Panthers affiliated to the league last week and they start their campaign tomorrow with a date against Roderick Takawira's developmental side Sigauke.
The side has two teams and their female counterparts are set to play Real Returners in a match that will be the curtain raiser to the men's match against Sigauke.
HBA administrator Simon Lawson said the B League side has been introduced to the league as they would like to see the game develop in all towns and at all levels in the country.
"This would be the first time that Marondera will witness a Harare Basketball League basketball match and the reason why we agreed for them to join our league is development.
"There is no competition in Marondera and because we would like to see the game develop in all the parts of the country at all levels, we saw it necessary to have the club play in the league," said Lawson.
