NIGERIA : Fiba Champions Cup Peaks End Chains of Defeat

Plateau Peaks of Jos redeemed their chance of qualifying for the next stage of the FIBA Africa Champions Cup with a deserved victory over ASB Onatra of DR Congo Playing before a sizeable crowd on Tuesday, the Coach Austin Gompil tutored side led through the first quarter with 7points difference.

The team inspired by skipper Stanley Gumut, went down in the second quarter to their opponent, only to lift their game on resumption of play in the tension-soaked encounter to compound the Congolese woes with 87-62 defeat.peaking on his team's determination to play in the quarter-finals, Gompil said the team will work hard to improve on their performance , adding that the lapses noticed in their previous game will be corrected.He however hinged the team's qualification on today's game against African Sports of Cote D'Ivoire, which has a Nigerian player, Sola Alayande.

Meanwhile, Alayande, who played for Union Bank basketball club of Lagos in the last Premier League season, has vowed to shock the Nigeria representatives (Peaks) when both sides clash in today.

In other matches played yesterday, Atletico Petroleos of Angola continued their unbeaten runs with 96-75 defeat over Inter Club of Congo.
