ZIMBABWE : HBA Decide Against Play-Offs

THE Harare Basketball Association has decided against play-offs in the pre-season tournament that reaches the knock out stages this weekend.
Vice chairman (technical) Eddie Gondoza said that lack of venues was limiting them and they will resort to using the scoring averages to position the teams."There was an idea of making sure that we gave the teams a lot of play time in the pre-season tournament as the teams prepare for the new season.
"But unfortunately we have not been able to do that because space would be limiting us as there are a few courts.
"So with that in mind we are just going to be using the scores for the rest of the teams but we are also going to play the third place play-off in the men's games," said Gondoza.
All the games have been centralised and would be played at Belvedere Technical Teachers' College this weekend with the finals set for Sunday.
In the men's games, Varsity Leopards will take on Golden Spurs at 2pm and it is at the same time that bankers Kingdom Cavaliers will be playing Mbare Bulls in the quarter-finals.

Fixtures

Men: Varsity Leopards v Golden Spurs; Kingdom Cavaliers v Mbare Bulls (2pm); Jewels v UZ Stars, Highdon Raiderz v SCB Stormers (4pm)

Women: Jewels v Varsity Leopards, Stanbic v Highdon Raiderz (2pm).
