NIGERIA : Nigeria Immigration bear AHIP
By Pius Ayinor
Lagos
Until the Immigration ladies and their AHIP counterparts stepped out on the basketball court of the National Stadium, Lagos, yesterday, none of the two teams had won any game after two days of full court action in the Zenith Women Basketball League. All other six teams had at least posted a win each in the final-8 play off.
The game, therefore, became a clear underdog match with both teams languishing at the wrong end of the table. The Nigeria Immigration won that game 43-20 to leave their opponents as the only team without a win and may leave the championship without any full point. The win for Immigration became the second over AHIP within the current season as both teams met in the last game of the Savannah Conference play off last month with Immigration winning that game to arrive Lagos as zonal champions.
Today, AHIP of Kano face Delta Force in the second match of the day while Immigration would attempt a second win against Sunshine Angels. The star match is also the last match of the day, which sees the Customs tackling Dolphins of Lagos.
