NIGERIA : African Club Qualifiers: Comets storm Abidjan

One of Nigeria representative to this year Africa Champions Club Cup qualifiers, Ebun Comets basketball club have concluded plans to storm the Ivories capital, Abidjan on Saturday to battle for one of the four tickets from the elimination which has clubs from the Fiba Africa zones one, two and three.
Comets players tutored by former Nigeria national team coach, Ayo Bakare are said to be in high spirit for the qualifiers and have resolved to do the nation proud when hostilities began in Abidjan on Saturday evening.

The team departure was delayed due to flight hitches as there is only two direct flight from Nigeria to Cote d'Ivoire which makes it impossible for the Nigerian representatives (Comets and Plateau Peaks basketball club) to hit Abidjan Thursday as earlier planned.

Comets will field a mixture of young, daring players and spiced with a handful of experience plaers who have seen top flight action in African championship both at club and national team level.

Information from the Abidjan Secretariat of the continental ruling body, Fiba Africa indicates that nine clubs from five countries will battle for honours for the race to Lagos, Nigeria for the grand finale come November this year.

The nine clubs includes O.B.C and AfricanSports basketball club of Cote d'Ivoire, Oilers and NPA Python from Liberia, Togo is fieding CBS basketball club of Lome, Back basketball club from Guinea, Stade Malien of Bamako and Nigeria's Peaks and Comets. The first four teams will join the four qualifiers that emerged last week in the first qualifiers decided in DR Congo, host, Dodan Warriors basketball club of Nigeria and defending champion, ABC basketball club of Cote d'Ivoire in the grand finale billed for November this year.
