KENYA : Predators Beat NPC to Reach Final
Champions Predators hit Nairobi Pentecostal Church (NPC) 50-33 to dash into the finals of the Nairobi Basketball Association during a semi-finals tie at Railways Club on Sunday.
Both teams went into the match with the series tied 1-1.Predators, who will face Catholic Dream Team in the series finals beginning October 28, led 13-7 in the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the victors were ahead 14-9.
After resumption, the scores stood at 7-5 in a low scoring third quarter, but it went a notch higher in a closely-fought last one with NPC trailing 14-16.Valentine Apondi scored 22 points to lead Predators, while Josephine Nabwire hit 13. Andrew Kihumba nailed a last-gasp free shot to lift Africa Nazarene University to a 53-52 win over Blazers.
Meanwhile, foreign referees took charge of local league matches at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium.
The officials, who attended a three-day Zone Five Fiba Africa International clinic in Nairobi officiated at league matches.
