Makerere University Sparks are out of the MTN basketball league play offs following a 45-42 loss to mighty Kampala City Council Leopards on Saturday.
The 2003 champions trailed 11-24 at half time, only to wake up in the last quarter, which they dominated 22-11. But the undefeated Leopards sealed the win courtesy of Miriam Hamara's two last second baskets. Becky Akullo posted 15 points as they won their 15th game in a row.
Marion Nakaziba made 12 points for Sparks who remained in fifth position.
With only three games to the end of the preliminaries, they are automatically out of contention for play offs as they trail third and fourth placed KIU Rangers and A-I Challenge by four points.
In the men's Yello Max, Michael Olweny (22 points) made two crucial baskets in the dying seconds to help Charging Rhino edge Livingstone 59-57.
