UGANDA : Marines, KCC Win League Ties

MTN basketball league defending champions Nkumba University Marines and Charging Rhinos registered wins over KIU and Miracle respectively Wednesday evening at Lugogo Indoor Stadium to keep their hopes of qualifying for the play-offs alive.
Marines whitewashed KIU 101-55 with reigning Most Valuable Player (MVP) Norman Blick scoring a season high 44 points including eight 3-pointers. Carrol Bisereko garnered 17 while Donald Blick added 8 points for Marines in the high scoring game.
Markmot Orom registered a team-high 16 points, Emma Baguma 12 and Omar Faud 8 for KIU. Kenyan import Jeff Mwaniki who had given KIU hope of reducing the score deficit fell face down on a fast break sustaining a cut in the foreface and was rushed to Mulago Hospital for treatment.
The Kenyan star now joins team skipper Isaac Afidra who hurt his ribs during training. Charging Rhinos made it past hard-fighting Miracle 57-45.
In the women's category, table leaders KCC Leopards subjected Nabisunsa to 109-45 drubbing.
