UGANDA : Lady Bucks out to keep second slot
By Sande A. Bashaija & Daniels N. Tatya
KAMPALA
Men
MAK Youth v MBC Rocks
Jammers v Vegetarians
KIU v Livingstone
Women
Amazon v Lady Bucks
KIU Rangers v Crane High
RECORD women champions Lady Bucks return to action today against Amazon Rhino at the YMCA Wandegeya courts in need of nothing less than a win if they are to maintain the second place on the table.
The former champions have 29 points, three behind table leaders KCC Leopards, while KIU Rangers lie third with 28 points. Lady Bucks still have to face defending champions A-1 Challenge (currently fourth) next Saturday and cannot afford any slip-up today.
Losing the two remaining games will put Bucks in fourth position and in line to face faultless KCC Leopards when the play-offs get underway.
The team that qualifies as number one plays the fourth while second takes on third in the best of three semi-final play-off series.
Lady Bucks will look up to experienced Flavia Oketcho and Mariam Birungi against a depleted Amazon Rhino that lost most of its star players at the beginning of this season.
In the men's Yellow Max Conference, wounded KIU take on Livingstone. KIU will be without injured skipper Isaac Afidra.
