TANZANIA : Stage set for Dar Basketball season

THE Kili RBA men's league season starts tomorrow at the TCC-Chang'ombe ground in Dar es Salaam. The UDSM-Outsiders will take on the newly promoted Chui in the opening match of the 14-team league.
According to the fixture released by Basketball Dar es Salaam (BD) yesterday. The day will see last season Kili Super Cup champions Oilers battle it out with another promoted team Jogoo, to be followed with the match between Mgulani and Magnet.
Savio and Chang'ombe Boys will lock horns in another league season opener.
In another development, Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL), the event's sponsors for the third consecutive year through its Kilimanjaro Premium Lager brand, yesterday announced cash prizes for the winners and outstanding players of the league.
Kilimanjaro Premium lager Brand Manager Oscar Shelukindo disclosed that the title winner will be awarded 3m/- whereas the first runner up will get 2m/- and the second runner up will take home 1m/-.
Shelukindo also unveiled that the outstanding players will share among themselves 1.2m/- with the most valuable player (MVP) taking home 500,000/- and the most disciplined team receiving 300,000/- while the best coach and blocker will get 200,000/- respectively.
He added that there will be weekly and monthly presentation of cash prize, trophies and certificates of appreciation to players who excel during the event.
BD President Simon Msoffe commended the sponsors for their support and challenged players to show appreciation by displaying a high standard game during the event. Teams which are participating in the event are JKT who are the defending champions, Vijana 'The City Bulls' UDSM-Outsiders, Chui, TM-Rockets, Pazi and TM-Mkwawa for Eastern conference.
