Lusaka
THE Zambia Basketball Association (ZBA) is expected to participate in a two-day friendly match with Malawi after receiving an invitation from Malawi Basketball Association (MBA).
Confirming the invitation yesterday, ZBA general secretary Mwembe Kaona said the invitation would make up for the association's failure to send the Under 18 men's national team to South Africa last Friday.
"In the wake of our failure to send the Under 18 men's national team to South Africa for the FIBA (International Federation of Basketball Association) Africa Zone World Cup qualifiers, we may send the boys to Malawi to make up for the disappointment," Kaona said.
He disclosed that MBA had also offered to meet all up keep costs of the team whilst in Malawi. 'They have offered to provide full-board lodging (accommodation and meals) plus local transport for our team whilst in Malawi," said Kaona.
MBA sent the invitation signed by its president Oscar Kanjala with tentative dates for either this month or next month. The Under 20 are the current Zone Six SADC silver medallists.
