VEGETARIANS topped SPENA for their sixth straight victory in an MTN basketball league match-up between the top teams in the Yello Go conference on Saturday.
Michael Ola scored 17 points as Vegetarians triumphed 73-60 over St Peters Naalya (SPENA) at the YMCA courts.
Victor Mwesigye added 10 points for the Luzira-based team that continued their dominance over SPENA in the second round.
SPENA closed within 46-40 at halftime before Vegetarians opened the second half with eight straight points to pull away.
A 3-point shot by Alex Gimoro provided Vegetarians their biggest lead at 65-56 with five minutes left, and SPENA did not get any closer than 10 points thereafter.
William Ojok recorded his second double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds for SPENA, who face UCU Mukono on August 20.
Meanwhile, defending champions Nkumba-Marines led by 33 points after the first half and maintained the pace on their way to a 106-40 victory over hapless Najja High.
Boniface Okello and Paul Mwaka spurred Marines for the eighth time in 11 games.
