SAM Obol (pictured) was the saviour for Falcons when they beat KIU 73-65 in a league game played on Sunday at the YMCA courts, Wandegeya.
Obol’s double conversion from the charity line for a 58-all normal time tie aided the side to the win.
The University side had taken a cautious approach, going close in the first three quarters before stepping up in in the fourth with a 19-14 lead. Falcons only needed Charles Ssubi's three pointer to level the game at 54 with one minute left on the clock.
Markmot Orum and Henry Mwinuka (14 points) extended the lead to four points before Brian Ssentongo (13 points) reduced it to two under 45 minutes.
KIU were heading for a win but Mwinuka, in a bid to hold the ball till the final whistle made a turnover following pressure from Ssentongo who released Obol (18 points) on the left side and an eventual foul on the star who made no mistake from the line.
Man of the game Ssubi had 15 points all from out side the arc ,while Henry Malinga added 15 points. Isaac Afridra and Emma Baguma made 15 and 14 respectively.
