KENYA : Terrorists' Score Their Second Win of the Year

University of Nairobi's Terrorists registered their second win in this year's basketball Premier League when they shocked Kenyatta University Pirates 66-48 at Nairobi's Nyayo National Stadium yesterday.
In other matches, Co-operative Bank maintained their top form beating International Christian Centre 88-69 while Lomboritz caused the biggest upset when they rocked Telkom 67-61 in the men's Division One league tie.
Pirates underrated Terrorists and ended up surrendering two points to their fellow students who hit them hard 66-48.
Terrorists, who had lost eight matches and had only one win, went for an early kill through Brian Busu, Rodney Genga and Fred Magana.
The trio scared Pirates from the start racing to a 12-0 run as their opponents lost their heads going dry in six minutes. Pirates' Griffins Ligare and Emmanuel Sande were completely out of the game from the start creating room for Terrorists to lead 16-13 in the first quarter.
Coach Waringo Gitau of Pirates had no game plan as Terrorists remained on fire to lead 33-24 at half-time. Surprisingly, Pirates trailed throughout. from start to finish suffering a heavy 20-14 defeat in the last quarter.
Eugene Genga and Arnold Mulili each scored 15 points while Rodney Genga added 13 for Terrorists. Paul Ojuoga lacked the usual support replying with 15 points for Pirates.
In another top tie, Bobby Okwako scored 19 points while Collins Macharia added 16 as Co-op Bank maintained their second spot after registering a 88-69 win over ICC.
Maurice Ochieng had 21 points and James Omune managed 18 for ICC.Lomboritz ended Telkom's winning treak when they pipped them 67-61in a closely contested men's Division One match.
Telkom had set the ball rolling with a 16-10 first quarter advantage before going down 36-34 at half-time. Philip Tindo shot 16 points, Eric Etemesi had 10 for Lomboritz while Maurice Ogolla managed 18 with team-mate Maxwell Kaunda scoring 10 for Telkom.
The top women's tie between champions Kenya Ports Authority and high-riding Telkom was called off at the last minute due to the preparations for Kecoso Games.
