AISHA Nalumansi's timely three pointer propelled Kampala International University (KIU) Rangers to a 49-46 win over defending champions A-I Challenge in the MTN league game played Wednesday night at YMCA.
A-I had taken a 8-7 first quarter lead before a power black out stopped the game for about 15 minutes before the University side forced a 23-all first half tie at resumption.

The defending champions then took a 6 points lead through Ali Mavita and Carol Mugasha's accurate shorts from out side the arc.
But KIU's Hadijja Kiiza gradually cut it short with easy lay ups following A-I's loose defence deep in the third quarter that tied the scores at 31, making the two sides take the lead either way in a sea-saw trend.

With the scores level at 45 and with 55 seconds to play, player of the day Nalumansi started exchanging the ball with fellow new signing Tewin Ssemakula and aimed at the hoop before Daisy Owade added one.

Kiiza, Owade and Nalumansi made 14, 11 and 10 points for KIU while Mugasha and Josephine Namayega notched 11 and 9 with Mavita and Viola Akuma contributing 8 and 7 points for A-1. Akuma was later penalised for urguing with the umprire Ssendi.
