UGANDA : KIU defeat Amazon to finish second

KIU Rangers 64 Amazon 48
KAMPALA International University (KIU) Rangers moved to second place on the table past Lady Bucks after their 64-48 win over Amazon at YMCA on Tuesday.
The University side capitalised on a massive 36-21 first half lead to overcome the determined Rhino ladies who tied both last quarters with 16 and 12 points respectively, but to no avail.
"We are now aiming at a better performance in the second round and get to the play offs," KIU coach Nimrod Kaboha said after the game.
Barbara Namukaya topped the scorers' chat with 16 points while Hadijja Kiiza and Aisha Nalumansi made 15 and 12 points as they won eight of the nine first round games.
Youthful Florence Nanyonga led Amazon with 12 points and 6 rebounds as Judith Nansobya, Angella Lukidi and Lydia Mulwana contributed 10, 9 and 8 points respectively.
KIU's win ensured their second position b ehind leaders Kampala City Council (KCC) Leopards, and above former champions Lady Bucks by a single point.
Amazon Rhinos remains in eighth position with 12 points from three wins and six loses. Defending champions and regional bronze medalists A-1 Challenge are 4th placed.
