UGANDA : KCC Risk MTN League Suspension

By Aloysius Byamukama

THE Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) is preparing to take action against MTN league side Kampala City Council (KCC) for failure to abide to the rules.

This follows refusal to use jerseys that had the sponosrs logo and later their expulsion of MTN league games from their Nakasero Primary School courts in a letter sent to the federation on June 11.

FUBA's Edmund Lumu told Daily Monitor yesterday that the federation is to meet again for a final decision that could easily be a suspension. " We are waiting for the federation President who was not around during the last (Monday) meeting. But we shall take a decision after contacting the sponsors," said Lumu.KCC team manager Ms Joy Olinga said the purpose of the letter she wrote to FUBA and MTN was not focussed at sabotaging the national league sponsors.

"Our case had been communicated to them (FUBA) but they changed at the last hour. However, we shall take what ever decision they will come up with," said Olinga.

On Saturday, the mayor's ladies were denied playing their league game against Nabisunsa while donning KCC jerseys. Olinga in retaliation wrote a letter explaining their case and suspending the FUBA/MTN league games from the KCC courts. Games have now been shifted to the Makerere pool courts, Crane High and Nabisunsa.
