UGANDA : Falcons, A-1 triumph

FORMER league champions Falcons went top of Yello Max table after a hard fought win over Charging Rhino in the MTN basketball league game played at YMCA on Sunday.
The record winners trailed 34-27 at first half, but recovered in the last two quarters with 22-17 and 27-14 scores.
Walter Alenyo came off the bench with the 1997 champions leading 58-55 in 6 minutes of playing time to assist Guy Rutaitsire and Eric Malinga for a 59-58 Falcons' step up.
The lead was extended to five points before Ronnie Kalule narrowed it with a curling three pointer.
Alenyo's constant threat to Rhino's rear end instigated Diego Angiemi to unnecessary fouls that extended Falcons' upper hand.
Malinga's Eric and Henry made 19 points apiece while Diego Angiemi and Alex Ochola made 16 and 10 points for Rhino.
Steven Okias' 35 points gave Warriors a 91-35 win over Najja High and kept their third position at 14 points.
In the women's category, Kampala City Council (KCC) Leopards remained unbeaten in 8 games after their 73-54 win over former champions Lady Bucks to remain top with 16 points.
Defending champions A-I Challenge together with Kampala International University (KIU) Rangers' secured second and third slots following wins over Amazon Rhino and Makerere Sparks respectively.
