CHARGING Rhinos secured two crucial points after a breath taking 57-55 win over Kyambogo Warriors in an MTN league game played on Sunday at YMCA-Wandegeya.
The first half ended 29-all but Mande Juruni (pictured) converted a rare three pointer from the half way line to give the 1997 league champions a 44-41 third quarter lead.
Both sides looked for a killer hoop in the last seconds and Juruni got the important throw from the line for a two points lead.
Warriors were broken further down after Ronnie Kasewu's effort that could have sent the game into over time, was ruled out.
Juruni 12 points of 5 were from out side the arc, while new signing Richard Okila made 16 as Rhino got their second win of the season. Steven Okias notched 20 and Nelson Wafula added 15 in a losing effort.
The Yello Go conference game had Uganda Christian University (UCU) Mukono beat Bush Courts 60-47.
In the women's side, Marion Nakaziba and Vicky Nasolo made 10 and 8 points respectively as Makerere University Sparks overcame Nabisunsa Girls 55-27. Charlene Kalungi and Halima Nabusimba had 12 and 6 points and Joyce Zalwango added 5 for the young school girls.
In the other game, Sarah Nasuna's 18 points helped MAK Cubs overcome Kyambogo Comets for which Japa Rosemary was the scorer with 22 points.
