NIGERIA: Vmobile League: Lagos Islanders Battle Customs

The Vmobile Premier Basketball League enters Week Four this weekend with games across both conferences. The Atlantic Conference action will begin today in Lagos with the Lagos Islanders taking on the Nigeria Customs Club. Both teams are stepping out at the National Stadium with defeats from their last games. But while the Islanders will simply play to regain their steps, it is quite a mountain task for the Customs who are battling to secure their very first win this season.
In the Atlantic Conference, it has become quite difficult for experts to predict games and this match will be like the others. What is certain is that the game will be quite exciting. Every point will be desperately fought for in the hall usually full of excitement.
In Kano, it is a local de4rby in the only match of the day for the Savannah Conference. Premier league rookies, AHIP Giants will be hosts to powerhouse Kano Pillars. This game may not be to tough to call. Forms, records and image give the game to the Pillars and a win for their opponents will be interpreted as upset. What will make the fixture quite a tough one for AHIP is the fact that the Pillars lost their last game in Minna to Niger Potters by 58-57. And in a league where every point counts on the road to the play offs the Pillars will take this game seriously as any slip can cost them topping the zone to the play offs.
Tomorrow in Bauchi Yelwa Hawks are home to Tapgun Rockets who are struggling to find their feet in the league. Without the aid of a soothsayer the Hawks is as good as winning the game. The most on offer from their young opponents is quality resistance.
In Lagos, the match of the weekend is that between Union Bank and Ebun Comets. The game is a five star pairing. Followers of the Vmobile League know very well that until the buzzer nobody can say exactly who will take the game.
