ZAMBIA: SIA Donates Towards Construction of Basketball Court
SPORT in Action (SIA) on Friday donated building material worth K20 million for the construction of a basketball court at Kazemba Basic School in Chimuntu village of Chongwe.
The building materials included sand, cement and stones. SIA director Clement Chileshe said they were trying to provide recreational places for pupils who had no access to such facilities. Chileshe added that their promotion of sport in schools was part of their campaign of promoting Physical Education.
The pupils also played games including soccer and netball on grounds which have been cleared and goals put up with the help of SIA and the School.
And Kazemba Basic School headmaster Dereck Chikololo expressed happiness at the help the sports NGO was giving them. "Our school lacks a lot especially in sports. We used to use branches and had no balls for sports and we are grateful that sports in action has helped us," he said.
He said the school had a P.E teacher adding that with the coming of sports equipment and courts, the pupils would be engaged in sport which will enable them compete with other schools not only in Chongwe.
