UGANDA: Marines, Falcons tip off basketball league
DEFENDING champions Nkumba Marines and their predecessors Falcons will highlight the new basketball season when it opens at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium tomorrow evening.
The 12th edition of the competition will also see champions A-1 Challenge take on rivals MUK-Sparks in an early game.
Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA) announced that all was set for the commencement of the national league that is expected to run till October.
While Marines won the league last year, Falcons finished third and the rivalry between the two is expected to keep the fans on their toes throught.
According to last season’s match-up, Falcons convincingly defeated Marines 75-57 and will be hoping for a repeat when they parade the Malingas, (Henry and Eric) and Dennis Oporia in the front court tomorrow.
Falcons have won the league a record five times.
