ZIMBABWE: Basketball tourney lined up

A TREAT is in store for basketball fans this weekend when 14 teams take part in a tournament set for BCD Courts tomorrow.

The tournament has been organised to raise funds for the provincial squad, which will take part in the interprovincial championships in Gweru on the weekend of 2426 February.
Bulawayo Basketball Association (BBA) committee member, Sincengile Mzemba, said preparations for the tournament and the Gweru event were on course.
“Basically everything has been organised well and I promise fans that it’s going to be fireworks,” said Mzemba.
Meanwhile our Midlands Correspondent reports that the hosts of the interprovincial championships are leaving no stone unturned in their quest to win silverware.
They are practising regularly at the proposed match venue, the Zimbabwe Military Academy.
Midlands basketball boss, Tauya Chihota, said: “We do not have intimidating names in our teams but the fact that we know our courts better than our opponents should give us an edge over them and hence we have been training at ZMA to familiarise with the courts.”
He said they would also bank on home town support from the fans.
