TANZANIA: T.M. Mkwawa upset Don Bosco
In a surprise development, T.M. Mkwawa stunned title favourites Don Bosco when they beat them 59-49 in the Dream Cup held over the weekend at the National Stadium, Dar es Salaam.
Don Bosco who have lost only one match against Chang’ombe Boys a fortnight ago, did not believe their eyes when T.M. Mkwawa outplayed them technically.
T.M. Mkwawa, one of the newest teams in the league, played brilliantly throughout the four quarters and managed to lead the first quarter with 17 points against 8 of Don Bosco.
The winners continued to press hard in the second quarter and managed to end it with 32-22. The third quarter saw the winners leading 42-32.
Teamed up with Michal John upfront, William Okinda played a key role in sinking Don Bosco.
William Okinda scored 13 points for T.M. Mkwawa while Mokolu Ngoyi walked off with 14 points for Don Bosco.
In another match held at the same venue over the weekend, Tan Blacks narrowly beat Police 69-68 in a closely contested match.
