“The programme has being packaged with clear-cut objectives and long and short term goals. Also, relevant stakeholders such as the media can monitor the activities of the squad in their build-up sessions. Basic features inherent include various female basketballers’ profile, tournaments, friendlies and a live chatroom where correspondence on the activities of the team will be entertained. The target is to win the All-Africa games prize while striving to win two matches during the Olympics next year”

However, Coach Bakare downplays huge expectations but remain positive the female national team can reclaim its leading place within African basketball circuit

“The current crew is poised to effect visible changes. That is why we want the media to talk to us. We are working in consonance with our stated goals. As at now, we have contact many foreign based players who have given us their words of commitment. Few friendlies have been lined and some are in the pipeline. We are putting together home-based female players hopefully the women league will create an avenue to scout for fresh bloods. It is a serious task to make D’Tigress a dominant force within African basketball circuit. We can be able to contend with Angola on a large scale.”
