NIGERIA : Baton, Comets record away week-9 wins

Police Baton basketball club on Sunday continued their search for a final-eight playoff slot in the Atlantic conference of the DStv Premier Basketball League posting a 60-55 points away win over Chariot basketball club in a local derby at the sport hall of the national stadium, Lagos.

Coach Mach Balogun's Baton side won the first and last quarters by 17-08 and 17-16 points respectively, with the 11-11 tied second and 15-20 proving insufficient for the rejuvenated Chariot side to fall to a 60-55 point final scoreline.

In the second game of the night, conference leaders and former league champions Comets came back from a 28-36 points first half deficit to record a 74-69 points victory over Dodan Warriors.
The Warriors, who entered the game aiming to unsettle Coach Ayo Bakare and his side following the former champions' last minute 83-81 win in the two teams' first encounter this season.
The Warriors managed to to keep their opponents at arm's length as they set up a narrow 36-28 halftime lead.
But Comets responded well late on, relying on their rich bench from the third quarter onwards to stop the agressive offensive play of the Warriors.
Comets thus picked the third and fourth quarters by 17-27 and 16-19 points to round up the game at 69-74 points to remain top of the Atlantic conference.
