NIGERIA : Premier League: Peaks narrow win over Pillars
It was like a new wine in an old bottle when the premier league made its dramatic return last weekend in Jos, Plateau State capital.
Home team, Plateau Peaks basketball club fought hard to earn the maximum point at stake when it played host to old war horse, Kano Pillars basketball club in what was described as a thriller by a basketball fans who watched the encounter.
Though Peaks won the match 70-67 but Pillars had more converts on the evening (Sunday) tagged the return of the nation flagship championship - The Premier League after a long wait.
Pillars' key player, Ibrahim Adamu Yusuf described his team encounter against the host Peaks as a match that brought back the old memory of the league.
The Nigerian international says, Pillars would be a team to be reckoned with as the league progresses.
According to him, the loss to Peaks was painful but says the players have put the loss behind them as they collectively looked forward to this weekend fixtures.
The Atlantic conference of the league will tip-off this weekend in Lagos with former champion, Ebun Comets basketball club doing battle against Nigeria Customs Service basketball club while Dodan Warriors basketball club will take to the floor against star-studded Union Bank basketball at 18.00 hours local time.
