ZAMBIA : Magic, Buffaloes Win Basketball Opener
MATERO Magic beat Green Buffaloes 56-48 to win the Zambia Basketball
Association (ZBA) traditional opening tournament while the Buffaloes
women team picked up a walkover win over UNZA Honeys to lift the title.
Both Magic and Buffaloes walked away with K3,000 each while the runner up received K2,000 for their efforts during the long weekend.
In men's event, Magic beat Lilanda Heats 60-31 in the quarter finals while Magic B beat Green Eagles 50-51 as Buffaloes thumped ZCAS Blazers 51-40 while UNZA Pacers picked up a 20-0 win over Munali Suns.
Buffaloes then beat Magic B 46-30 in the semi finals while Magic A had a walkover after UNZA Pacers withdraw.
"The tournament was good and we saw a lot of competition from the teams. It was impressive because we saw how some teams had tremendously improved in their performance," he said.
The tournament that started Friday and ended on Sunday at the National Sports Development Centre (NASDEC) attracted 15 teams.
