StarTimes Falcons 104 –59 Sharing Youths
A new look StarTimes Falcons got off a flying start to the 2015 Airtels National Basketball League. The record league champions blew-out the Sharing Youth 104-58 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium on Sunday evening.
Falcons (1-0) started slow but out scored Sharing (0-1)  18-14 in the first quarter before getting into their grove en-route to the 46 points win in the opening game of their season.
Skipper, Steven Omony poured in 26 points and handed out 10 assists as Falcons registered the biggest season opener in recent years. Shooting guard, Jonah Mukwaba added 20 points off the bench knocking down 6-of-10 from deep.
“They (Falcons) played well like they have always been a good team. They are big” Sharing’s coach, Caleb Arnest said.
New imports, Joseph Ouma and Ariel Okall showed signs of of brilliance. While Okall was not effective on the eye, the athletic big man scored 20 points, picked 5 rebounds and assisted 5 baskets. Point guard, Ouma had 6 points but made a few flash passes. Sharing were competitive in the first quarter but Falcons superiority begun to show in the second quarter and never looked back. However, despite the loss, Caleb was happy with the performance of his team being the first game of the season.
“The guys played well and hard. It’s the opening day of the season and we will get better”
Lino Malek had team high 12 points for Sharing, Kutai Gatwech added 10 points and 6 assists while on loan (from City Oilers) Emmanuel Okumu had 9 points.
Sharing Youths will face KIU Titans in their next game while Falcons will face Warriors next and City Oilers a couple of days later.
