NIGERIA : Buhari's Victory Celebration Disrupts Basketball League Game in Kaduna

One of the Week Two games of the DSTV Premier Basketball League was disrupted in Kaduna as celebrations of the victory recorded by President-elect, Muhammad Buhari, in the Presidential Polls continued.
Action was meant to resume this weekend after the successful Presidential elections, however, rowdy fans took celebrations to the match centre and caused mayhem which led to an abrupt end of the game. In the wake of the violent celebrations, basketball fans in Kaduna missed out of the fun as the game between Kada Stars and visitors, newly promoted FCT Rocks from Abuja, was called off following the directive of the Kaduna State government to shut down all public places.
According to reports gathered from the Nigerian Basketball Federation secretariat, the Kaduna State Government released a report which stated thus,
"We have issued a directive closing down all public places in Kaduna due to casualties recorded during celebrations of the outcome of last week's elections and also, the subsequent vandalization of some public places including Murtala Square, home court of the Kada Stars".
In view of the foregoing, the organisers of the league, the Nigerian Basketball Federation cancelled the game between Kada Stars and FCT Rocks slated for Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Murtala Mohammed Square. No date has been fixed for the game as at press time but will be communicated in due course, says Assistant Secretary for the Federation, Onyeka Emeka
