Currently in their second season, City Oilers have managed to defeat every team in the Airtel National Basketball league apart from UCU Canons
Nick Natuhereza’s team not only did the double over last season’s champions but also beat them77-65 in the final of the UCU Invitational Open earlier this year.
The Oilers then suffered a 77-72 defeat to the university side in the opening game this season to make it four straight wins.
Today, the two teams meet again in a second round fixture with UCU dreaming of another double.
“Off course we would love to do it again but it will more difficult now than before,” stated forward Boniface Okello.
UCU tuned up for today’s encounter with a straightforward 78- 64 win over the struggling Ndejje University Angels.
Sudi Ulanga top scored with 16 points to lead four other UCU players in double figures. There was also a double-double for centre Ivan Lumanyika who picked 10 rebounds in addition to his 10 points.
Oilers meanwhile, eased their way past Tiger Head Power with a 73-66 victory to move to 13-2 this season.
Despite the victory, Mandy Juruni seemed unsatisfied with his players’ performance.
“We won because our opponents played worse,” Juruni told his players after Sunday’s game.
