UGANDA : Rusty Warriors overcome gritty Marines

Warriors have not had trouble in winning their season opening games in recent history. It was different last night when they played Nkumba Marines (who were already two games into the season) in their season opener at YMCA.
After three rather comfortable quarters, new signing Sedar Sagamba (from Sharing Youths) had to come to their rescue towards the end of the game when Marines (0-3) rallied back to level the score at 50 with just over five minutes. Sagamba scored team high 16 points including theAnd 1 that sparked warriors 19-7 run in the final five minutes. The guard also handed out 6 helpers.
Four other Warriors reached double figures. Ronnie Kasewu had 12 points. Joshua Etalu, Henry Malinga and Brian Gumisiriza contributed 10 points apiece.
Nkumba whose performance improved ten-fold from the previous two games were led by Marcus Angolo with game high 21 points and 6 assists. Brian Sivachi added 11 points and Emmanuel Nyabuto had 9 points to go with game high 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Guard, Shaban Ramadhani dished out me high 9 assists and also matched game high 9 boards.
Meanwhile UCU Lady Canons beat MUK Sparks 66-49. Velma Achieng powered the Lady Canons with game high 20 points and 7 helpers, Purity Odhiambo added 13 points and Judith Nansobya contributed 12 points.
Joy Chemutai scored 16 points to lead Sparks, Sheena Asimwe added 8 points. Kevin Acherkut picked game high 10 rebounds and scored 6 points.
