TANZANIA : Dar Lads Maintain Winning Streak in Inter-City Basketball

THE Dar es Salaam men's 'Dream Team' maintained their winning streak in the ongoing East and Central Africa Intercity basketball tournament at the National Indoor Stadium, after thrashing Mombasa 104- 57 on Wednesday.
Both teams started the game on a high tempo with the Dream Team dominating the proceeding. They won the first and second quarters with an impressive scores of 20-13 and 25-21 respectively.
At the breather Dar men were leading 45-24 and they continued to outshine their opponents by dominating the third quarter and won it 23-06 to put the game beyond their opponent's reach.
It was the same story in the last quarter of the game as Dar continued to pour forward and score points almost at will while Mombasa were stretched to the limit.
They grabbed the last quarter with yet another impressive score of 36-17 to comprehensively emerge as the match winners. This was the second successive victory for the 'Dream team' who labored to edge out compatriots Mbeya City 69-66 in a thrilling and mouthwatering clash held at the same venue on Tuesday.
The seesaw encounter saw Dream team leading 16-13 in the first quarter before Mbeya City fought back to win 24- 13 in the second quarter. Dar hit back and grabbed the third quarter 23-12 before the two teams tied 17-17 in the final quarter.
Mombasa lost 105-75 to Mbeya City in their opening game on the first day of the tournament on Tuesday.
Another game held at the same venue yesterday saw Arusha who were stunned by South Sudan's Citizen in their first match 89 -72, seizing their first victory by beating Somali's Hargesia 64-50.
Speaking after the game Arusha City coach, Dassiy Makula complained about the roof leakage at the National Indoor Stadium which has been quite a challenge to the event organizers. Currently, Dar es Salaam city is pounded by heavy rain, which disturbs the event timetable as some games have to be rescheduled.
