Luanda — The playmaker of 1º de Agosto's senior males basketball team, Carlos Almeida, is to retire from basketball on Tuesday, after the first-leg match with Petro de Luanda, as part of the final of the Angola League Cup competition.
The information was provided to ANGOP by the player himself,
highlighting his holding of a seat at the National Assembly
(Parliament), where he represents the ruling MPLA party, as the main
reason for the early "farewell".
Carlos Almeida, captain of 1º de Agosto, said that the first leg
match is ideal for his farewell since it will take place at Victorino
Cunha pavilion (1º de Agosto home), where the club's board of directors
intends to honour him at the end of the match.
The second leg is scheduled for Cidadela pavilion, on April 18.
