Kenya: Sigalame Lose Out Despite 'Winning' Busia County Show

SIGALAME Boys basketball team will not feature in the March 22 regional games at Kaimosi Complex despite emerging winners of the Busia County Term One Games that ended at Kolanya High School in Teso North at the weekend.
Sigalame had upset the form book when they beat Mundika 90-68 with John Okello top scoring with 35 points to ensure a place at the regional finals after their opponents, who lost in the final, denied them the opportunity last year.
Their dream was shattered two hours later when the jury that met to deliberate on Mundika's appeal found them guilty of allegedly fielding three non student players. Mundika thus retain their title after the board decision.
In the semifinals, Mundika had handed Kolanya Boys a 93-40 beating while Mundika dispatched Butula 60-34.
St. Monica Chakol lifted the girls' crown after beating Kolanya Girls 24-15 on their own turf to carry the onus of representing the County at the regional front. Chakol trounced Namboboto from Samia 31-5 in the first semi finals with Kolanya Girls dispatching Moding 20-13 in the other semi.
