Kenya: Coastals Set to Pick 12 Players for Zanzibar

COAST Basketball Association will tomorrow name a 12-member squad that will take part in the Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar.
CBA chairman Ali Hilmy said the squad will be named after consultation with stakeholders to avoid controversy, Speaking in Mombasa yesterday, Hilmy said the committee in-charge had zeroed in on players from six counties in the Coast region to give the team a regional output
"We have many considerations in our criteria. This includes focusing on the best players from Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Tana River and Taita/Taveta counties smong others," Hilmy said.CBA received the invitation from Zanzibar in early December. The Mapinduzi Cup is being used by the clove islanders to mark 50 years since the 1964 revolution. Hilmy, who at the same time appealed for funds from basketball lovers and well wishers, said they would send three officials with the team.
"We are targeting to raise Sh 300,000 being travel and accommodation in Zanzibar for the four day stay on the island," he said.
According to Hilmy the team leaves on January 7 for the island
