UGANDA : Revenge motivates Falcons

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since Riham Warriors beat Falcons 4-2 in a seven-game final series to lift their second national basketball league title last year.
They won’t have to wait until the final to meet again when it matters most after sharing the two regular season games.
Champions Warriors and Falcons clash today at Lugogo MTN Arena in much shorter series than 11 months ago. Today’s is the first game of an expected five-game semi-final series to decide who gets to this year’s final to face either DMark Power or City Oilers.
Five-time champions Power lead that series 1-0 after Wednesday night’s 79-72 win over the newcomers at YMCA court with Game Two set for tomorrow.
The events of last year have not faded from Falcons’ minds.
“Going back to the final and trying to win again should be motivation enough,” forward Stephen Omony said. Falcons point guard Geoff Omondi is more straightforward as last year’s final defeat was the fourth time he has been on the losing side. “We want revenge. They beat us (last year) so we will want to win,” Omondi said.
