Ndejje Angels 46-71 Riham Warriors (Warriors win series 2-0)
The only smash thing about Ndejje University Angels in the post season has been their new jersey and nothing else. Many of us expected them to at least compete against defending champions, Riham Warriors little did we know they were in for a beat down that was completed on Friday night at the Lugogo MTN Arena.
Ndejje took no lessons from the 67-43 loss in game 1 and the university side went down 71-46 in game 2 because of their inability to defend the three point line or beat Warriors zone defense and bowed out of the playoffs at the same level they did last year.
“It is a whole lot of things. You could say inexperience but they beat us at everything” Ndejje’s forward, Goeffrey Soro said.
Like in game 1, Warriors again used a zone defense that failed Ndejje to break. “To beat the zone must have clever guards. They just had to do it like Jude (Ochen) but the shots failed” Soro added. Ndejje were held to a disappointing 28.6% (18-of-63) shooting from the field and made no 3-pointer of 14 attempts.
Center, Henry Malinga scored game high 19 points, 10 rebounds and handed out 8 assists to lead Warriors. Jude Ochen added 18 points, 12 coming from beyond the arc as he sunk 4-of-5 3-pointers. Ronnie Kasewu added 12 points picked 8 rebounds and handed out 7 helpers while Ivan Enabu contributed 10 points and swiped 8 steals.
Jonah Otim scored 11 points to pace Ndejje and Soro added 10 points. The pair combined for a 9-of-30 shooting.
Warriors will face UCU Canons or Falcons who will play the decider on Sunday (Tomorrow).
