RWANDA : RAPP ready to topple APR in B-ball play-offs finals

RWANDA Allied Peace for Progress (RAPP) are targeting to beat champions APR in Game One of the women’s basketball best of five Play-offs finals, which start today at Amahoro indoor stadium.

RAPP, who finished third in the regular season, are confident of winning their first ever silverware after seeing-off this year’s 1994 Genocide against Tutsi memorial tournament winners Ubumwe BBC in semi-finals 72-60 last Sunday.
“APR are everyone’s favourites to win but we are ready to beat them in Game One on Saturday, we have trained well and I hope the players will be able to stick to our game plan against the defending champions,” RAPP coach Eric Nsabimana told Times Sport on Thursday.

In men’s category, last year’s finalists APR take on Rusizi in Game One of the third place play-offs at 6pm, which will be followed by  the main event, Game One of the Playoff finals between defending champions Espoir and 2011 champions KBC, starting at 8pm
Espoir head coach Jean Bahufite said on Thursday, “We can’t take anything for granted because KBC are our biggest rivals and I expect them to come out guns blazing so we have to be on top of our game. We want to keep our unbeaten record.”
The Rafiki-based Espoir will go into Game one looking to maintain their unbeaten streak on the local scene which stretches back to the start of last season.
