Defending league champions Coop Bank and former champions Ulinzi Warriors on Friday collected the first win of the quarter finals playoffs matches at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani. The two are one step away from the semis should they go ahead to win game two of the best of three later on Saturday.
Ulinzi needed a last minute three pointer from Bernard Mufutu to sink Lions 65-67 in a closely contested match. Coop Bank on the other hand had an easy ride past Griffin Ligare’s Thunder cruising to a 73-54 win.
The four will meet again at the same Kasarani venue later on Saturday for the second match of the best of three.
Should Ulinzi and Coop win their respective matches, then they will sail through to the semis but a loss for either side will push the quarter finals to the third decider match.
