KENYA : KPA sail past Storms in KBF PLayoffs
Former champions KPA weathered a slow first half to overcome Storms 67-46 in their first game of the second round playoffs. The dock women powered by Yvonne Akinyi had a slow first quarter losing out 14-16 and lost the second by a similar score to trail by four points at the halftime break.
A change of defensive set forcing Storms to series of turnovers bailed the dock women who were now stamping their authority in the game winning a massive 11-25 in the third.
Storms efforts to rescue themselves and pick a win were thwarted by KPA’s dreaded back court duo of Hellen Oketch and Brenda Angeshi with the latter leading offensive onslaught while Hellen proved a rock on Storms’ Angela Luchivya. KPA were not letting go still and limited Storms to a basket and a free throw from the line while bagging seven to wrap the final quarter 14-3.
KPA’s duo of Yvonne Akinyi and Joyce Makhungu bagged 20 and 8 points respectively while Susan Akinyi and Angela Luchivya donated 8 and 6 points respectively in Storms’ loss.
