KENYA : Malindi Beats Tumaini Takers in Coast Basketball League
Malindi Netts escaped with a 44-41 victory against Tumaini Takers in the Coast Basketball League duel. The CBL which has attracted 19 teams drawn from Kilifi, Kwale and host Mombasa counties--has been going on despite the holy month of Ramadhan. Kenyatta University humbled hosts Buxton Hawks 55-53 in another water tight match before Makupa Lakers floored Congo Nets 40-39 while Kisauni Kingi edged Mtopanga Finest 44-43.
Coast Basketball Association (CBA) chairman, Ali Hilmy appealed to corporate companies and local leaders in the region to come on board and sponsor the league. "We are appealing for assistance from all quarters so that we can assist the youth in this region to take up the game," he said. Hilmy said they hope to form a team from the league to represent at the national level.
