UGANDA : Leopards, Warriors and Falcons set for Zone 5 championships

With less than week to the tip-off 2013 FIBA Africa Zone V club championships in Bujumbura - Burundi, teams that will represent Uganda at the tournament have been finally confirmed.
After university side, UCU Lady Canons opted out of the event as it coincides with the exams, three teams, women’s champions KCCA Leopards, men’s league title holders Riham Warriors and finalists Galaxy Falcons will represent the country in the regional event.
“KCCA, Warriors and Falcons will be going. They have confirmed to the federation and completed the procedures” FUBA’s publicist Ali Balunywa told Kawowo Sports
Defending champions, Espoir who blew out Urunani in last year’s event held in Kampala will along with APR’s women’s side represent Rwanda in the competition. 
“We only have Espoir and APR (women) set to represent the country in regional event” Rwanda Basketball Federation technical director Didier Shema Maboko told Kigali Dunker
Tanzania men’s title holders, ABC and women’s finalists Jeshi Stars will not participate in the August 2-11 tournament.
“We are expecting to send two sides (Vijana and Don Bosco) after the army sides (ABC and Jeshi Stars) opted out of the tournament and of the two only one (Vijana City Bulls)  have so far confirmed their participation and completed players’ registration” Michael Muluwe, Tanzania Basketball Federation assistant secretary general told Daily News.
The hosts, Burundi will be represented by four teams. Last year’s finalists Uranani will be joined by New Stars on the men’s side while Berco Stars and Lez Gazelles are the women’s sides.
Kenya will be represented by United States International University (USIU). The two sides of the university will be joined by the tournament’s women defending champions, Eagle Wings
