KENYA : Lions Maul Mennonites As KPA Run Riot

LIONS roared to a 77-53 win over Mennonites in their premier league basketball encounter at Nyayo National Stadium gymnasium. The former champions led 18-15 at the first quarter. Mennonites took the second with a close 14-13 edge as the two teas retired to the break with Lions ahead 31-29. Away at the Makande Welfare hall in Mombasa, Kenya Ports Authority teams silenced the visiting sides to bag maximum points infront of their insatiable fans.
KPA men walloped Strathmore University 61-43 while KPA women thrashed Sprite Storms 62-38 behind Yvonne Akinyi's game high 27 points. Strathmore University women sides pipped NYTA Shimba 48-45 in a closely fought encounter that saw the lanky Manuela Biel score 12 while Tanya Ogwel and Grace Wanjiku managed 12 points each. Taudensia Peter scored the losers 16 points.
At Upper Hill school courts reigning women champions Eagle Wings torched Safe Spaces 54-37 while at the Police Canteen courts in Kakamega, Co-operative Bank of Kenya beat the home girls 49-24.
