Falcons Vs Dmark Power 8:30 pm

With 11 championships between Falcons and Dmark Power, the fixture presents the biggest match up of the local in basketball. The first of the two regular season meets of 2013 is on this evening at the MTN Arena.

The league giants shared spoils last year. Falcons won the first leg using two explosive quarters (first and fourth) scoring 25 points in each of the quarters. Power edged the second match up 79-75 using a 33 points fourth quarter, Ikong taking charge of the game. Power is unbeaten this season and is averaging 87 points per game, while Falcons have lost one game (to City Oilers) and are averaging 71.8 points per game.

Guard, Geoffrey Omondi and Forward, Peter Elungat missed Falcons last game due to injury. “They have to play but we are going to asses them and see how much we can use them in that (Power’s) game” Gad Eteu said on the pair after the Miracle game. Falcons used its bench in much of the game against Miracle Eagles. “We had to give those guys a go and hopefully they can help us in the near future” Eteu said. The future has come early and the bench has to be productive against Power whose bench is probably only behind City Oilers’.

Power play a quick transition game catching opponents on fast breaks “They are pretty fast but as long as we are quick on defensive recovery, that should not be a big issue” Eteu added.

Falcons may start with PG - Abdulahi Ramandhani SG - Geoffrey Omondi SF - Steven Omony PF - Peter Elungat C - Philip Ameny and Power may start with PG - Ben Komakech SG - Joseph Ikong SF - Norman Blick PF - Isaac Afidra C - David Kiberu.               

Meanwhile A1 Challenge will play UCU Lady Canons in the women's division. A1 have lost four games of the five played and have struggled to score averaging 49.6 points but center, Vickie Ntale is positive about the season. “We play each team three times. It’s not over for A1. We have to make the top 4”she insists. Lady Canons on the other hand are flying offensively averaging 89.25 points. With now a complete front court of Purity Adhiambo, Lorraine Akiny and Peace Proscovia, the trio will be difficult for Vickie Ntale, Agnes Nantongo and Liz Bazira to stop.
