A history of playing together on club and national duty in the past seemed to be fuelling the chemistry between Norman Blick and Isaac Afidra when they combined to devastating effect to dispatch Ndejje and lift D’Mark Power to yet another win in the Airtel National Basketball League.
The two seasoned campaigners flourished against Ndejje, with Blick scoring 19 while Afidra chipped in with 13 points. The pair also registered seven assists and five steals combined in the game played on Sunday evening at YMCA, Wandegeya.
“It was not an easy game especially at the start but I guess our experience helped us to overcome the threat in time. Our chemistry helped us a lot,” Blick explained after the win.
Ndejje’s best player on the night Jonathan Otim who scored a team high 14 points was ejected with 38 seconds left in third quarter after he fouled out. Interestingly, 4 of the 5 fouls were conceded off Blick and Afidra.
“We were close but after fouling out, it all went south though the fifth foul was not mine even if the referee insisted it was off me,” a disappointed Otim explained after the painful loss.
The win saw Power leapfrog UCU Canons at the top of the table and like the Mukono based side, remain unbeaten in five games.
In the other men’s game, Galaxy Falcons thrashed Miracle 85-27 in a one sided encounter. Abdulahi Ramadhan scored a game and season high 19 points and was ably assisted by Steven Omony with 17.
In the ladies category, KCCA recaptured top spot with a 52-29 win over plucky A1 Challenge while in-form Magic Stormers won their third game in a row with a resounding 68-34 victory over Gladiators.
