Nigerian Alao Solomon scored a game-leading 29 points to lead the Hawks past the Cobras in a match that failed to live up to the usual standard when these two teams meet.
Cobras lost all four quarters – 19-23, 14-21, 9-17 and 16-21 – before eventually losing the game by a large 24-point margin – 58-82.
Hawks were also helped by veteran captain Jim Domingue who scored 17 points, while Rodney Lozé and Jean-Paul Desaubin also scored in double figures with 15 and 13 points each.
Steven Servina led the scoring for the Cobras with 16 points and towering centre Amadou Sylla added 13.
In other matches, Dave Roseline and Alex Baron combined for 62 of Baya’s 97 points to lead the Bel Air-based team to a 97-51 victory over Drifters.
Roseline scored 15 of his 24 points in the first half, while Baron took over in the second half scoring 21 of his game-high total of 38 points.
For Drifters, Henry Monthy and Arnaud Arissol scored 15 points apiece, but those were not enough to prevent defeat. The win keeps Baya in touch with unbeaten league leaders Beau Vallon Heat.
Angels took on MBU Rockers in the other match, and despite battling hard the Anse Boileau-based team eventually lost out by nine points on a 53-62 score.
Barry Dubignon led the scoring with 22 points for Angels, while a 21-point contribution from Pascal Bibi helped ensure victory for MBU Rockers.
