NIGERIA : NBBF Names 15 for Stankovich Cup
The Nigeria Basketball Federation yesterday named a team of fifteen players to represent Nigeria in the Stankovich continental cup tournament. The tournament is scheduled to be hosted in the two Chinese cities of Lanzhou and Guanzhou from June 26 to July 10, 2013.The federation says the tourney kickstarts the team's international preparations for this summer's Afrobasket men slated for August in Cote d'Ivoire.
But the federation also disclosed that a number of players who have committed to the national team for the Afrobasket are excused to join the team in July after the Stankovich Cup to enable them conclude rehab, sort out contractual issues or try out with NBA teams during the period. The team include; Ben Uzoh, Mike Ohiero, Richard Oruche, Deji Egbeyemi, Stan Okoye, Abubakar Usman and Stanley Gumut. Others are Yahaya Abdul, Ike Diogu, Solomon Alabi, Olumide Oyedeji, Nkem Ojougboh, Kingsley Oguchi, Kelechi Anuna and Ehimen Orukpe.
