Thunder basketball team Captain Griffin Ligare has described their loss against Lions last week on Friday as ‘a game that we gave away’.The loss was Thunder’s first in the 2013 season after seven matches.
The encounter was the second match ever to be televised live on Super Sport 9 East after Ulinzi had faced off with Strathmore University at the Moi International Sports Center- Kasarani.
“We had too many turnovers in the 1^st quarter and they capitalized on that. We did not play the way we usually do and I can say that we gave away the game.” explained Ligare.
“As much as were tried to rally back in the last two quarters we closed the gap to four points but we started losing balls again from the fouls we committed in the dying minutes of the last quarter and they won. Anyway we are over that and we are looking forward to the next match.”
Thunder has been on exemplary form since the season began and their run has seen them beat 2012 Defending champs Co-op Bank and the runners up USIU Tigers. Lions who beat them 80-73 in the match finished 3^rd in the 2012 season.
