KENYA : Thunder’s Ligare seeking to maul Lions
Updated on 07/06/13 | By BRIAN AYIEKO
This season’s KBF league surprise package Thunder will be looking to maintain their flawless start to the season as they take on Lions who have only lost once this season.
Team captain Griffin Ligare is optimistic that if they avoid mistakes then they can win the match, “Lions is a good team therefore if we can avoid simple mistakes and on the other end force mistakes on them then we can take the day. But we are not heading into the match with any kind of pressure we shall just play our game.”
With Supersport coming on board Ligare pointed out that it was a step towards professionalizing basketball in Kenya, “finally we have a platform where the whole continent can see that there is good basketball in Kenya. With such initiatives then with due time the KBF Premier League is on its way into being fully professional.”
His sentiments were echoed by Cynthia Mumbo the Kenya Basketball Federation Marketing manager, “it is a huge step for us and we are encouraging people to come out in numbers.”
The first match will see Strathmore Leos go against Ulinzi Warriors. The matches kick off at 6:00 pm and there are no gate charges.
